The hotel was built in 1929. Its first owner was a wealthy German "Albert Metzger", who named him "Cecil" after the name of his son. In November 2007, the head of the Holding Company for Tourism, Hotels and Cinema said that a final settlement had been reached with the heirs of its original owners, and the price had been paid in full.
